Like any independent band, especially from California, competition is surely fierce in trying to make a name for yourselves. Everyone’s trying to gain exposure for their unique sounds in one way or another, but thankfully for Mr. Macabre, they have created something worthy of us writing about. While their musical genre influences are cited as funk, metal, and surf rock, this track specifically felt like it leaned towards a surf-like feel with total indie acoustic vibes.

If “Aloha Road” is just a small taste of what the band can offer, then we’d definitely be looking forward to anything coming from the band that defines itself as funk or metal. One thing that certainly stood out to us on the track was the overall laidback instrumentation, yet it found its place perfectly within the lyrics. The bass lines were surely original and kept us nodding our head all throughout the four minute single.

When listening, we highly recommend checking out the lyric video for “Aloha Road” that is posted below. It provides a bit of insight into who the band is and their overall demeanor. Honestly, they seem like a cool group of guys that we wouldn’t mind hanging out with ourselves. Not taking yourself too seriously can surely give an outlet to create meaningful and passionate music, and we think this proves it so.

As far as the instrumentation goes, besides the bass mentioned above, we thoroughly enjoyed the guitar solo at the end to bring it all to a close. We felt ourselves listening and reading the lyrics in the video as it played, so when a killer solo popped up at the end, it felt a bit emotional after hearing the story. The vocals on the track were also worth pointing out. We felt as though it’s the quintessential indie sound that every up and coming independent artist is looking to nail on their first few singles, and we really feel that Mr. Macabre knocked it out of the park as far as delivery goes.

All in all, this was a super enjoyable track that we think you’ll enjoy as well! We’re absolutely looking forward to what else the band is planning to put out and we’ll be keeping a close eye on them as well.
