Extremely ambitious in its expansive instrumentation, Departure has just let loose an astounding new single, “Hay Luz”. Please read on for an in-depth look at the track, as well as a background on this artist.

On Departure’s third release of 2022, the artist has delicately mixed together “traditional South American sounds in the charango with European classical instruments” that feature his signature electronic production. Keeping things fully instrumental, he’s somehow managed to craft an inspiring and optimistic sound through nearly five minutes of thought provoking style. Honestly, this was our introduction to the artist’s music, but he’s left an overwhelming positive impression on us. We can’t wait for everyone out there to give this one a focused listen.

Directly translating from “Hay Luz” to  “there is light”, Departure claims this statement was the driving force during the writing and creation process. Thankfully they’ve found the light at the end of this tunnel and the end product has come out to be striking and beautiful. In our opinion, it’s typically so much more difficult for an artist to impress on instrumental music. It’s not for the lack of beauty or invention, rather it loses that element of having vocals to add context or depth. With that being said though, it was the last thing on our collective minds that “Hay Luz” was missing out on anything. The song structure is completely original and our interest never wavered once from the opening notes. With 3 more releases on the way coming by the end of the year, we’re already patiently waiting for the inevitable follow up.

Most likely our biggest highlight and takeaway from our multiple listens was how wonderfully this song built from start to finish. They had our focus from the start, but the gradual build in both suspense and complexity is something that completely took us by surprise in the best way possible. We’re not here to spoil, rather to inform, but the song 100% pays off by listening to the final notes where we felt it hit the hardest. Departure has done it again, so please don’t miss out on an impressive composition.
