The wait is over! After many successful single releases ahead of Max Embers’ newest EP idyllwild, the record has arrived, and it’s amazing. Keep reading for our full review of the record, as well as a refresher on this emerging artist.

Intimate in lyricism and warm in its approach, Max Embers has surpassed all of our wildest expectations with the release of idyllwild. If you happen to be unfamiliar with his works so far, this would definitely be the perfect entry point into an artist that is sure to move you with the music he’s made. Without a doubt, this is an EP that we are highly recommending you check out immediately.

After covering the lead up singles “wildest dreams” and “mccartney”, we already had our preexisting opinions that the entire package would be a real beauty, however the start to finish product has blown us away. At 5 total tracks, spanning just around 17 minutes in total run time, it’s the perfect bite-sized album that never overstays its welcome. For us, it felt like Max got right to the point with his message and didn’t stuff the record full of unnecessary filler as so many musicians seem to do these days.

It’s no surprise that during the leadup to the record, Max Embers saw plenty of streams coming his way as the word caught on about what he was doing. The lead single and EP opener “wildest dreams” certainly feels like it wouldn’t be able to be topped, but as the record went on, it’s almost as if every track could’ve been the lead. The way that he’s able to manipulate his vocals not only to communicate the message, but also as another instrument is unprecedented. There isn’t a single dull moment present.

Without giving too much else away, just know that there’s a seemingly endless amount of original and passionate moments featured on idyllwild. It doesn’t rely on cheap gimmicks or gaudy production tricks to lure the listener in. It’s pure in its prowess and is 100% going to be a record we come back to fairly frequently. A massive congratulations to Max Embers on its release!
