NERiMA are a four-piece indie band, consisting of Alexi, Alex, Connor, and Matt, that are based out of Toronto, Canada. They’ve cited their music influences as rock bands like Green Day and Paramore to alternative breakthrough artists such as Twenty One Pilots and Arctic Monkeys. Listening to the single for the first time through, we could 100% find moments within the track that had a classic Arctic Monkeys and Green Day feel to it. If that’s what they were specifically going for, they absolutely nailed it. While the band classifies themselves as a mix of punk rock roots and alternative rock, we sensed a slice of grunge that was welcomed.

Now that we’ve familiarized ourselves a bit with the band, it’s time to review “All Afraid To Fall”. Right out of the gates, the opening bassline hooked us in immediately. Not long after a soft female voice entered and gave us chills! 15 seconds in and NERiMA were in full force with the diverse instrumentation on the track. My immediate impressions here were that this is such a perfectly sounding classic indie rock song that has an immensely pure feel to it.

Moving to around the 2 minute mark of the track, the song really takes off into a climactic solo featuring arpeggio’d guitar, succinct drums keeping the beat nicely, and that angelic voice that fits the vibe of the song so well. All throughout I couldn’t help but imagine myself moshing around to this specific song. It could be that we’re missing concerts badly or that the song really does rock hard. It must be the latter.

All in all, I hope that we’ve made ourselves as clear as possible with the review. If you’re into indie punk music with a twist, “All Afraid To Fall” is for you. We truly enjoyed what we heard and have high hopes for the future NERiMA. I know for one, we’ll be following this career closely as they evolve. With that being said, the band is currently writing and recording material for their debut album. We’ll keep you posted.
