On their very first single, Wil Project have absolutely exceeded all of our expectations with the release of “Falling Down”. Do yourselves a huge favor and read our full featured review surrounding the track, as well as a background on the band.

Ahead of their debut album What We Don’t See that’s set to release this Fall, Wil Project have let loose the lead single “Falling Down” that instantly landed with us. Made up of Scott Morgan and Mark Zammit, these two musicians have brought their best abilities to a truly unique sound that falls under the scope of inventive indie rock. We’ll let you know right now, but this is certainly a track we have to recommend.

Kicking things off with a memorable bass line and a mighty bright feeling, “Falling Down” put collective smiles on all of our faces as soon as our first listen finished up. Influenced by so many different genres and sounds over the years, the members of Wil Project have been ramping up to something like this for a while now. Growing up together in Birmingham, Michigan obviously led to a wide array of inspiration, but what they’ve managed to churn out as a debut single is more than impressive.

On the background of the band itself, it’s actually a tribute to the late William Reed Morgan who passed away in early 2018. Scott’s father had a serious passion for music, which we can only assume really sparked this ongoing collaboration for creation. It all started with the initial lyric writing and carving out their unique sound, and after so much time prepping, we’re just happy to be able to enjoy the final product.

As the band begins to gear up for the big album release this coming Fall, our new hope in life is that more singles just like this will follow. For us, this felt like warm weather music that you could catch yourself listening to at the beach or enjoying on a nice long drive. It had a certain carefree easy going vibe to it, but with rock and roll roots that showed their full head throughout the listen. Honestly, there isn’t really a single negative thing we could say about “Falling Down”, it resonated with us that much.

With all that being said though, Wil Project is without a doubt a band we’ll be keeping a close eye on as they continue to share hits like this. We’re partial to rock music as a whole, so it’s always a plus when great music like this falls in your lap.
