Gorillaz: House of Kong LA Pop Up Opens Alongside Release of "The Mountain"

Los Angeles is officially stepping inside the animated, genre-warping world of Gorillaz, as the band opens the doors to the Gorillaz: House of Kong Gift Shop in Downtown LA. Just launched on Thursday, February 19th, just days ahead of their back-to-back, sold-out Hollywood Palladium shows on February 22 and 23, the pop-up arrives as both a celebration and a preview of what’s shaping up to be a landmark moment for fans.

Located at Rolling Greens in historic Downtown Los Angeles, the House of Kong Gift Shop is free and open to the public, immediately positioning itself as a must-visit destination for Gorillaz devotees. Created by co-founders Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, the shop is more than a merch stop. It’s an immersive extension of the band’s universe, blending music, visual art, storytelling, and culture into a single, thoughtfully curated space.

The timing couldn’t be better. With Gorillaz set to perform their new album The Mountain in full at the Palladium, the shop acts as a physical gateway into the band’s current creative era. The new record is already generating serious buzz (trust us), and its presence is felt throughout the space. From exclusive capsule collections to never-before-seen items, the merch offering spans the band’s entire discography while firmly planting a flag in what comes next.

Fans can expect collectible character line-drawing tees, camo hoodies, custom bomber jackets, House of Kong caps, tote bags, mugs, posters, vinyl, patch sets, guitar picks, stickers, and more. A dedicated The Mountain capsule range drops exclusively in-store on February 27, making a visit feel essential rather than optional. Every piece feels intentional, high-quality, and deeply connected to the Gorillaz aesthetic.

The moment you walk in there, you’re hit with in-person display of the iconic 1969 Chevy Camaro from the “Stylo” music video. Seeing the car up close added such a cool layer to the experience, offering anyone a photo opportunity with a tangible piece of Gorillaz lore.

The atmosphere inside Rolling Greens was super relaxed and welcoming, with easy access and available parking making it an effortless stop whether you’re coming from the shows or just exploring Downtown LA. The gift shop is open daily from 12:00–6:00pm PST through February 25, then expands to 10:00am–10:00pm PST from February 26 through March 19, coinciding with the full House of Kong LA Exhibition.

That larger immersive exhibition opens February 26 and runs through March 19, marking the LA continuation of a project that debuted in London last year. The exhibition, developed alongside creative director Stephen Gallagher, promises a fully realized audio-visual experience that pushes Gorillaz’ boundary-blurring ethos even further. Even better, you can still BUY tickets to the exhibition, so definitely don’t miss out.

For longtime fans and newcomers, it’s a rare chance to step directly into the band’s universe, right in the heart of Los Angeles. Gorillaz is for the people, so get into it!
