Lucy Dacus Closes Out Her Tour at LA's Famous Greek Theatre
On a cold and breezy evening in Los Angeles, Lucy Dacus brought warmth, heart, and her signature indie rock tenderness to a packed Greek Theatre, delivering a stunning final performance of her tour in support of Forever Is A Feeling. The night marked not just the end of a run, but a celebration of Dacus’ ever-growing command of intimate storytelling on a grand stage.
The openers set the tone for a night steeped in soul and sincerity. Jasmine.4.t. captivated early arrivals with atmospheric, lo-fi pop melodies, while MUNA’s Katie Gavin, performing solo for one of her first live outings from her new album What A Relief, turned in a luminous, captivating set that revealed a raw, emotional immediacy in her vocals and songwriting apart from her band’s synth-pop sheen.
By the time Dacus took the stage, the cool Pacific air had settled over Griffith Park, but the crowd was more than ready. Opening with Forever Is A Feeling’s shimmering title track, Dacus’ voice drifted effortlessly over the Greek’s storied amphitheater, her vocals tender and clear, commanding in their softness. The production was simple but striking — a wash of moody, shifting lighting and understated visuals that let the music’s lyrical weight and Dacus' vulnerable performance shine.
The setlist leaned heavily into her new record, a collection of songs that feel both lush and unflinching. “Hot & Heavy” and “For Keeps” resonated especially well live, with the band’s tight, beautifully textured arrangements giving the songs a new kind of muscle. The Greek’s natural acoustics carried the harmonies in “Partner In Crime” into the cool night air.
Visually, it was one of the loveliest shows the venue’s hosted this year. A mix of soft, dreamlike projections and starlike lighting cascaded down the shell of the Greek’s open-air stage, mirroring the introspective nature of the setlist while providing just enough theatricality to keep the eye dancing between shadows and light.
The night’s most transcendent moment arrived during the encore. To a roar of recognition, Dacus softly strummed the opening chords of boygenius’ “True Blue,” offering up a gorgeously stripped-down version of the beloved track. It was a quiet love letter to friendship and artistic kinship, and a perfect final bow for the night — and the tour.
As the final notes drifted out over the swaying trees of Griffith Park and Dacus and her band took their last bows, it was clear this wasn’t just a concert, but a gathering of kindred spirits. Forever Is A Feeling already feels like one of Dacus' defining works, and seeing it come to life in such a setting — on such a night — was a reminder of how music can cut through cold winds and city noise to create something timeless.
An unforgettable close to a tour that feels like a new beginning.
