Parcels Party Through the Rain at Troutdale's McMenamins Edgefield

The rain didn't stand a chance against Parcels! The Australian five-piece brought their LOVED Tour to the outdoor grounds of McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale, and a packed crowd spent the entire night dancing straight through the drizzle, feet in the mud and hands in the air, proving once again that this band's live show is simply on another level.

From the first note, Parcels sound even better in person than on record, and that's saying something for a band whose studio work is already this meticulous. The band's signature vocal harmonies, stacked five voices deep and traded seamlessly between members, filled the amphitheater with a warmth that cut right through the wet night air. It's not an exaggeration to call them some of the best harmonies in music right now; live, layered over their tight, funk-inflected grooves, they hit even harder than expected, turning every chorus into a full-crowd singalong.

The setlist moved fluidly across the band's catalog, pulling from years of beloved material while weaving in songs from their newest album, LOVED, and the newer cuts fit right in alongside the older favorites, proof that Parcels' songwriting has only gotten sharper with time. The pacing throughout the night was tight and purposeful, no dead air between songs, no dip in energy at any point in the set, just one immaculately performed groove flowing directly into the next. Every member of the band looked completely locked in, playing with the kind of precision and chemistry that only comes from years of genuine collaboration, and it showed in just how effortless the whole thing felt from the outside.

The production matched the ambition of the performance. Lighting design and visuals throughout the night were genuinely stunning, washing the stage in color that shifted with every mood change in the music, turning the rain itself into part of the spectacle rather than an obstacle to work around. Beams cut through the mist, silhouettes danced against colored light, and the whole atmosphere took on an almost cinematic quality that elevated an already excellent set into something more memorable.

Through it all, the crowd never let up. Even with mud underfoot and rain still falling, nobody left the dancefloor, the energy building rather than fading as the night went on. It's the kind of show that reminds you why people chase this band around the world, a band firing on all cylinders that somehow makes even bad weather feel like part of the magic.
