Rostam & Hamilton Leithauser Finally Hit the Road Together for Joint Tour
Some collaborations are worth waiting a decade for. Rostam and Hamilton Leithauser are celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their beloved collaborative album I Had a Dream That You Were Mine with The Joint Tour, their first ever tour together, and it's coming to Boston's Somerville Theatre on Nov. 11.
The record has long been a fan favorite, born from friendship and mutual admiration. It blends Rostam's expansive production with Leithauser's distinctive, powerhouse vocals, weaving together doo-wop, country-rock, baroque pop, folk, and torch songs into a sound that is uniquely the duo's own. Ten years on, it still sounds like two artists at the top of their game finding something special in each other's company.
That's what makes this tour feel so exciting. The pair's original live performances were rare, a handful of shows in Los Angeles and New York around the album's release, and they were celebrated precisely because they were so hard to catch. For many fans, this will be the first real chance to hear these songs in a room with the two musicians who made them, and there is something special about two collaborators reconnecting to revisit a record that captured such distinct creative chemistry.
And while Boston is one of the stops, the tour covers a lot of ground. The Joint Tour kicks off November 5 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, before heading to Philadelphia's World Cafe Live, Woodstock's Bearsville Theater, and two nights at Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg on November 9 and 10. After Somerville on November 11, it continues to Toronto, Detroit's Saint Andrew's Hall, and Chicago's Thalia Hall, then wraps on the West Coast with a night at San Francisco's Castro Theatre on November 18 and a finale at Los Angeles' Pacific Electric on November 19. Sam and Louise Sullivan will open the Somerville show.
The tour also arrives alongside a fresh look back at the album. The duo shared a piano version of "In a Black Out," a standout from the record, giving fans a taste of how these songs might sound in an intimate live setting. It's a lovely preview of what's to come, and a reminder of how well the material holds up.
For Boston-area music fans, the Somerville Theatre is an ideal home for a night like this, a historic room with a warm, intimate feel that suits the album's mix of romance, heartache, and sweeping orchestration. Tickets are on sale now, and with a run of dates this short, you'll want to move fast.
Whether you've loved this album since it came out or you're just discovering it, this is a rare chance to see two exceptional artists celebrate one of the most charming collaborations of the last decade. Catch The Joint Tour if you can. Grab tickets HERE!
