Sudan Archives Brings the Party to the Lodge Room's Outdoor Theatre
This past weekend the Lodge Room in Highland Park hosted their now annual outdoor festival and block party. Friday night's festivities were headlined by the brilliant Sudan Archives, 3L3D3P, and that night's resident DJ Asphodele. The community vibes were immaculate as families, couples and groups of friends all danced together to the genre mashing mixes being supplied by Asphodele as she warmed up everyone's booties for the night's main show.
Sudan Archives just released her third and most genre defying album “THE BPM” released on the legendary Stones Throw Records. The violinist, singer and producer was born Brittney Denise Parks in Cincinnati, Ohio which she left for beautiful Los Angeles, California at the age of nineteen. Where she was able to study and work on her music and able to bring it to others more easily.
Sudan’s third album has found her heading in a more dance centric direction which brings us back to Friday night’s festivities as Ms Archives walked out on stage to a house beat with a “FREE GAZA” vocal being looped on top. Standing on top of her glowing white circular riser she struck a power pose in her skintight bodysuit with her eclectic flying V Violin strapped onto her shoulder she premiered some tracks from her new album getting the crowd even more hyped before.
She from there sprinkles in some tracks from one of my favorite albums of that year “Natural Brown Prom Queen” between her new songs. Her ability to add these beautiful string arrangements while singing and entertaining is an amazing feet that few can pull off and if you want to see an underrated performer catch her tour starting in Europe later this month before coming back to North America in the new year and then she'll be making her way down unda! Peep dates and get tickets here!
