Teddy Swims Turns Arizona Financial Theatre into a Soulful Sanctuary

For one night, the Arizona Financial Theatre wasn’t just a concert venue, but a place of catharsis and power. Teddy Swims brought his I've Tried Everything But Therapy (ITEBT) tour to a completely sold-out Phoenix crowd, filling the 5,000-cap venue with emotions and powerhouse vocals that left everyone on their feet.

Opening for Swims was Cian Ducrot, playing many songs from his discography and captivating the crowd throughout his set. He mixed emotion with humor, making countless jokes between songs, and with each one, you could hear the laughter erupting from the audience. His stage presence was magnetic, warming up the room in all the right ways before Teddy took over.

The night began with a dramatic flair: Teddy and his band opened with a massive song while elevated on a 10-foot platform, hidden behind a curtain. As his band kicked into the intro, the curtain dropped and a spotlight hit him. From that point on, he had the crowd locked in.

Backed by a full band and three incredible backup singers, Swims delivered a set that included fan favorites, including “Lose Control”, “Your Kind of Crazy”, and “Bad Dreams”, all drawn from his ITEBT album. He also played additional songs from his discography, including “All That Really Matters”. His heartfelt cover of Kings of Leon’s "Use Somebody” was a standout which showcased his unmatched vocal ability and deep emotional range. It was more than just a cover. It was a moment, delivered with gospel-like power that made the venue feel more like a church.

Swims’ voice is captivating on its own, but combined with his band and backup vocalists, every note seemed to hit deeper. The chemistry on stage was undeniable, and throughout the night, Teddy paused to talk to the crowd, adding a layer of intimacy that matched the emotion of the music.

The audience was a true mix of all ages and backgrounds, united by the music. From the photo pit, the connection between Teddy and the crowd was clear. Hands in the air, phones lit up, and fans singing every lyric with full volume. Whether seated or in the GA pit, no one stayed still for long.

Teddy Swims doesn’t just perform, he feels every word, and so does everyone watching. Whether it was the anthems from ITEBT or the soul-stirring covers, the show certainly delivered a sense of vulnerability and healing. You could call it a concert. But for many in that room, it felt more like a release.
