Doechii Turns Forest Stage Into a Swampy Spectacle at Osheaga 2025

Osheaga’s Forest Stage was the place to be Friday night as rapper, singer, and all-around powerhouse Doechii brought her “Live From the Swamp” tour to Montreal. It was the final set of the night and easily one of the wildest.

Backed by a lush, swamp-themed set complete with mossy tree stumps and moody lighting, Doechii delivered a high-octane performance that was equal parts theatrical and intimate. Her outfit was perfectly on theme, and her hair, braided beautifully, made her look like a warrior rising from the bayou. The set was completely cohesive.

From the moment she appeared, the crowd was locked in. Packed shoulder-to-shoulder and buzzing with anticipation, fans erupted into cheers with each track and belted along to every word. Doechii’s presence was powerful yet effortless, like she was made for moments like this.

Unlike some performers who stick to the script, Doechii kept things real and conversational. Between songs, she talked with the crowd like old friends. One especially funny moment had her setting up a song with a story:

“Raise your hand if you've ever been in love.”

“Now raise your hand if you’ve ever been cheated on.”

“And now raise your hand if you’ve ever been cheated on… and your ex-boyfriend broke into your apartment and broke all your stuff.”

The crowd howled in laughter as she launched into “DENIAL IS A RIVER,” complete with her DJ voicing her imaginary therapist. It was part therapy session, part stand-up, part total banger—and completely unforgettable.

Other standouts included “BOILED PEANUTS,” a groove-heavy sing-along that had everyone swaying, and of course, the explosive “NISSAN ALTIMA,” which turned the Forest Stage into a jumping, dancing frenzy. The energy never let up, even as the night pushed on.

Unfortunately, due to city regulations, her set had to wrap at exactly 11:00 p.m., just as it felt like the night was peaking. Still, the crowd left fully satisfied, sweaty, smiling, and probably a little hoarse from screaming. Doechii made a huge impression on Montreal, and based on the reaction, she’ll be welcomed back any time.

It was my first time seeing her live, and she absolutely blew past my expectations. The way she blends vulnerability, chaos, and crowd command puts her in the same league as the greats. If Osheaga was a test, Doechii passed with swamp-soaked, high-voltage colours.
