Governors Ball 2026 Sees Another Massive Year Featuring Lorde, Baby Keem, & More
Governor's Ball returned to Flushing Meadows, New York, in 2026 for another memorable weekend of music. This year's lineup featured an impressive mix of artists, with headliners Lorde, Baby Keem, Stray Kids, Kali Uchis, A$AP Rocky, and Jennie representing a wide range of genres. From alternative pop and hip-hop to rock and K-pop, the festival continued its tradition of bringing together music fans from every corner of the industry.
One of the biggest storylines of the weekend was the growing presence of K-pop. Groups like Katseye and Stray Kids drew massive crowds, while Jennie of Blackpink stepped into the spotlight with one of her first major festival headlining performances as a solo artist. Considering the genre's explosive growth over the past several years, K-pop's seemed destined to eventually touch down in New York.
Beyond the headliners, the undercard offered plenty of variety with artists such as Pierce the Veil, Blood Orange, Clipse, Geese, and many others. One of Governor's Ball's greatest strengths is its ability to bring together artists who might otherwise never share the same lineup. It creates unique opportunities for fans to discover new music, whether that's a Pierce the Veil fan stumbling upon Katseye or a Clipse fan discovering Dominic Fike for the first time.
Day One began under sunny skies and felt like the perfect start to summer in New York. Mariah the Scientist made up for her cancellation the previous year serenading the crowd, while Pierce the Veil turned the festival grounds into a sea of mosh pits and sweaty fans. Katseye attracted parents and their kids together to both chant "Pinky's Up" throughout the set.
Baby Keem made a return to the festival stage after a 5-year hiatus and it felt like he never left. Lorde closed out the evening with a headlining set that felt years in the making. Returning to Governor's Ball for the first time since headlining in 2017, she demonstrated her star power through intimate crowd interactions and emotional performances. During "Ribs," she spent time near the barricade singing with fans, while her performance of "David" featured a large flag thrown into the crowd that read “I Don’t Belong to Anyone”.
Day Two carried the same momentum. 2hollis brought the perfect energy for an afternoon set, helping fans forget about the heat, while Ravyn Lenae's vocals captivated the audience. Wet Leg further proved that rock music remains alive and well at major festivals. However, the day took an unexpected turn when news broke that a thunderstorm was expected to hit the area later that evening. Rather than canceling the festival entirely, organizers adjusted the schedule, moving Stray Kids' headline performance to an earlier 6:15 p.m. slot and shifting Major Lazer to close another stage. Unfortunately, those changes came at a cost, as Blood Orange and Kali Uchis were removed from Saturday's schedule.
The decision sparked frustration among many attendees and quickly became a major topic of discussion on social media. While the weather situation was unavoidable, many fans felt disappointed by the outcome. Fortunately, Governor's Ball attempted to address some of those concerns heading into Day Three. Organizers announced that Blood Orange would be added to Sunday's lineup, with several set times adjusted to accommodate the performance. While not a perfect solution, it demonstrated an effort to make things right for disappointed fans.
The recurring weather issues also raised an important question: should Governor's Ball reconsider hosting it a different month in the year. Rain and severe weather have become increasingly common themes in recent years, making the festival's timing a growing concern for attendees. Despite another weather delay to begin the day, Sunday featured standout performances from Holly Humberstone and Slayyyter. Japanese Breakfast delighted fans while sharing news of her pregnancy, and Blood Orange proved exactly why fans had been so disappointed to miss Saturday's set. Dev Hynes and the rest of their band put on a show that simply wants to make you dance.
Geese were incredible and Clipse brought the much needed rap bars to Gov Ball. Dominic Fike is always welcomed back to Governor’s Ball any time and even teased some new music for fans. The final stretch of the festival belonged to the headliners. Jennie delivered an impressive performance that showcased her ability as a solo artist, separate from her success with Blackpink. A$AP Rocky closed out the weekend with a hometown performance packed with songs from "Don't Be Dumb" alongside many of his New York classics, making him truly one of this generation's icons from New York.
As the final crowds exited Flushing Meadows, Governor's Ball 2026 came to a close as a festival defined by musical diversity, memorable performances, and weather-related challenges. It was a treat to see new music genres get the spotlight like K-Pop with Stray Kids. Along with returning alumni like Lorde and Rocky headline sets. As well as newcomers Baby Keem and Jennie getting an opportunity to shine. Fans hope that Governor's Ball can continue to have another successful year in 2027 and experience an edition of the festival without weather issues.
