Alex Dennis surpasses expectations on new EP, "Robotland"

Freshly released after a wonderful lead up single, Alex Dennis has just let loose his latest EP, Robotland. We are loving it! Please read on for our full in-depth review of the record, as well as a refresher on the artist.

After covering Alex Dennis’ single “No Secrets”, we had quite the feeling that his EP Robotland would be good, but the final product has completely surpassed all of our wildest expectations. For this Milton Keynes-based singer and songwriter, he’s put together a genre diverse record that is equal parts inventive, lyrically profound, and ultimately pleasing to the ear. We can’t wait for everyone to check it out as soon as possible.

Coming in at 5 total tracks, spanning just around 19 minutes in length, Robotland was the perfect bite size record for us in that it didn’t overstay its welcome or include any unnecessary filler. Putting his vocals at the forefront on top of an always diverse instrumentation, you can fully expect a little bit of everything from this record. Opening it all up with “Radar”, Alex Dennis lures the listener in with his imagery-based lyricism telling his relatable stories in a beautiful fashion.

What we enjoy so much specifically about the EP format is the artist’s focused decision to only include their best. Additionally, we found that it was fully cohesive in sound and messaging as opposed to being all over the place. The track listing was sequenced in a way that balanced the emotions of each song in a nice way, but also piqued our interest and didn’t let go until the final moments. In the future, we can certainly see ourselves coming back to Robotland when we need a boost in energy or just want to experience a truly vibrant and uplifting performance.

Without giving too much away, because we’d prefer you listen for yourselves, the EP delivered in ways that just radiated all sorts of positivity in its general upbeat tone. Honestly, we could sort of imagine a short length film being associated with the record as it felt cinematic in ways as well. Seriously though, we can’t wait for everyone to give this a listen as it was just plain feel good music.
