Back at it with an incredibly meaningful single rich with top tier production, Anthony Byrne has just shared his latest, “Chasing”. Please read on for our full featured review of his single, in addition to a much needed background on this emerging talent.
Currently based out of Limerick, Ireland, Anthony Byrne is a singer, songwriter, and producer that after months of “soul-searching and self discovery” has created a post-lockdown single titled “Chasing”. It delves into themes surrounding identity, freedom, and the search for happiness. We’ve quickly come to love everything about this song from start to finish and sincerely can’t wait for everyone to get their ears on it.
While the song and its messaging is for the most part quite optimistic and reflective, the complete sound and vibe of the song is perfectly embodied in a lo-fi demeanor. As mentioned, the song is expertly produced and actually has provided a nice introduction to the electronic side of things as well. For us, there was so much to love about the song, but the originality and pureness that has come through in Anthony’s vocals make it seriously relatable to listen to. We all had difficult times over the past year and a half and we’re not done dealing with them either.
You can fully sense the passion in “Chasing”, but the emotional health difficulties show themselves nearly at all times as well. Not knowing the background of the artist or what the song’s really about might be detrimental to your experience, so we’re thrilled that we got all the necessary backstory before you dive right in. Even putting aside the messaging and the lyrics for just a moment, the actual structure and atmosphere of the song would be worthy of praise even if we had no idea what it was about.
We can confidently call “Chasing” excellent and we know for the absolute fact we’ll be doing a deep dive on the rest of Anthony Byrne’s discography because it appears he’s been quite busy with some other releases during 2021 as well.
