Babehoven are closing out their album rollout with one of its most pointed songs yet. The Hudson, NY-based project of singer-songwriter Maya Bon and producer-multi-instrumentalist Ryan Albert has released "Wave Has A Place," the final single from their third studio album, I See Them, I See Me, arriving this Friday, September 18th, via Double Double Whammy.

Bon has described "Wave Has A Place" as a song about loving someone who's cushioned from consequences, and the particular kind of loneliness that comes from watching that play out from the outside. It's about comfort worn as armor and privilege mistaken for identity, about demanding real honesty from someone who's never once had to consider anyone else's perspective. Most strikingly, Bon frames it as yearning for a home that's supposed to feel safe but instead feels like an alligator nest, an image that captures the song's central tension better than any explanation could. It's a quietly devastating way to close out the album's pre-release singles, and it sets up exactly the kind of clear-eyed reckoning the full record is built around.

That reckoning is baked into the album's title itself. I See Them, I See Me leans into the idea of a parallax view, the way two people can look at the same reality and see something entirely different, as Babehoven tries to reorient itself against a world that increasingly feels warped and hard to read clearly. Across fourteen tracks, the band works through that disorientation with real precision, crafting a record that circles back to why music matters in the first place rather than getting lost in the confusion it's describing.

There's real weight behind that clarity, too. During Babehoven's first headline tour in 2024, Bon experienced paralysis in her right vocal cord and was warned she might never be able to sing again, a genuinely frightening prospect for any artist, let alone one whose voice is so central to her band's identity. She recovered, and that recovery clearly shaped everything about how this album came together. Bon has spoken about the gratitude she feels simply being able to sing again, let alone sing with joy, and that sense of joy became a deliberate priority throughout the recording process, with the band actively choosing to have more fun making this record than they had in the past.
