By Million Wires’ "Not Over" is Atmospheric Alt Rock at its finest

It’s not often a record takes us by hold and absolutely refuses to let go just on the first listen. By Million Wires’ latest EP, Not Over, feels like one of those releases immediately. Though the foundations of these songs were laid years ago, the Polish alternative rock outfit wisely allowed the material to mature before sharing it with the world. The end result is a deeply resonant 5 song collection that explores survival, persistence, and the lingering chapters of life that refuse to fade.

Across roughly 23 minutes, Not Over showcases a band operating at an impressively high level! Blending atmospheric indie rock with plenty of melodic alternative influences, the EP strikes a balance between introspection and grandeur. It’s expansive yet never overwhelming, but there’s also so much intimacy in these songs it almost feels like you’re in the studio with them. More importantly, it’s a complete listening experience rather than a collection of disconnected songs.

That cohesiveness is 100% one of the record’s greatest strengths. From beginning to end, Not Over flows with purpose. You get sucked in on the opener “Over”, and from there on out, somehow each song levels up in intensity. Each track feels connected to the larger narrative lyrically at least, creating a sensation of listening to a concise album rather than a traditional EP.

At the center of the project is Mirek Skrok, whose vocal performance serves as both the emotional anchor and guiding force of the record. His voice possesses that rare combo of strength, capable of delivering quiet vulnerability one moment, but also knowing when to belt it out!

The musicianship across the EP completely deserves recognition too. Every member of By Million Wires appears fully committed to the material, giving us performances that are undeniably polished but still with some grit. These guitars create lush sounds while maintaining more than enough edge to keep the songs grounded in alternative rock.

Particularly noteworthy are the bass lines! Rather than simply supporting the songs from the background, the bass frequently becomes a driving force. Prepare to groove out big time on “Lost or Won”.

We really did enjoy that they took their time with this record and had them shaped by time and experience rather than what inspired in the moment. There’s a soulful quality running through the EP that gives even its most atmospheric moments a sense of humanity.

For listeners seeking substance alongside sonic beauty, Not Over more than lives up to its title. Grab a nice pair of headphones and sink into this ASAP. You can do so by clicking those links below and make sure to follow along as well to stay tuned for the latest.
