Carter Murphy impresses on eclectic debut single, "HOMM"

Kicking things off on a high note with an outstanding debut single, Carter Murphy has completely impressed us with “HOMM”. Keep reading for a closer look into the track, as well as a background on this emerging artist.

Acting as an acronym for Halls Of My Mansion”, Carter Murphy’s debut single “HOMM” is an eclectic mix of genres delicately led by the artist’s expressive vocals. Just released on November 18th, 2022, it’s got elements of Pop, R&B, and a little something extra on the backend that’s truly hard to put your finger on. We suppose that’s Carter’s signature sound, something we fully expect to hear on future singles. For now though, go ahead and familiarize yourself with her first.

On the background of it all, Carter claims that “HOMM” speaks for the “feeling of being lost, sequestered, and weak and that through darkness and loneliness”. Considering that this song was actually written right at the peak of the pandemic, it’s not surprising to know that Carter was once feeling this way, continually isolated from society as it felt like everything was falling apart. Though during this time, she’s written an incredible 30 songs that we hope to hear as soon as possible. With that being said though, “HOMM” really has acted as a great introduction because it hits all of those emotional notes in its themes, but also provides a real vibrance and complexity through its production and cadence.

As far as the actual style goes, it has that futuristic R&B lean to it that’s becoming more and more difficult to pull off these days, but Carter’s voice truly matches the vibe and essence of that genre. Of course there’s tons of pop passages that arise, but the slow jam-esque feel that this song has makes it a real vibe. Going forward, it’s going to be an interesting journey seeing how the rest of her music begins to shape up. We’re hoping more of the vibrance that we saw here, but honestly we’re up for anything she throws our way!
