Cody Steinmann reaches new heights on latest single, "Outlier"

At this point it feels like we’ve got a constant craving for Cody Steinmann’s music. Back at it again with another compelling instrumental, he’s shining as bright as ever on “Outlier”. Read on as we share our thoughts on the track, as well as an update on this artist.

In case you’ve been living in a bubble, Cody Steinmann has been all over the place in terms of his many releases across multiple projects. In this scenario, the artist has once again shared a new single titled “Outlier” released under his own name, and to no surprise in the slightest, it’s an absolute beauty. At a shade over six minutes in runtime, it’s a pure rock-inspired instrumental that takes the listener on a sonic journey through infinite styles and sounds. Obviously we’re highly recommending everyone give it a spin!

As the title suggests, Cody has crafted this song to relate to the feeling of being an “outlier”. Although it is an instrumental song with no lyrics, we do confidently feel that he’s managed to get the message across. With help from Chris Bates (bass) and Abinnet Berhanu (drums), the trio of talented performers all got their opportunity to show off their strengths. Cody has also said that he chose to feature these specific instruments because they’re “often overlooked”, hence the title “Outlier”. With that being said, there really are a ton of individual moments throughout the song where you can laser focus in on either the bass or drums and feel the emotion and sheer passion emanating. Ultimately it’s another guitar-led track similar in style to “Not Sappy At All”, but Cody’s genius composition has shown another side of his many capabilities here.

We’ve said it in the past on fully instrumental songs, but it typically takes a lot in order to hold our interest and keep us focused without the inclusion of vocals or lyrics to follow a story. In this case, it’s not only not necessary, but the artist’s literal nonstop shredding was more than enough. We found ourselves playing the air guitar fully immersed and on the edge of our seats as to what would come next. All in all, it’s a song and an artist you don’t want to skip.
