Connor Wren shares video for "Skyline Heart" off debut album, "Second Adolescence"
Connor Wren hasn’t just stepped into the spotlight with “Skyline Heart”, he’s undoubtedly burst through it, glitter trailing behind him in the most LA way possible. As the opening statement and song from his freshly released album Second Adolescence, the track arrives with confidence and a sense that something long-brewing has finally been uncorked. After a decade spent shaping hits behind the scenes for global popstars (Olivia Rodrigo, The Weeknd, etc.), Wren’s return to center stage feels like it’s long overdue. However, he’s completely stuck the landing with this beauty.
The song itself is a vibrant surge of electropop energy, built on a sleek electronic production that’s downright addictive, trust us. There’s a real polish here, but it never feels sterile. Instead, it’s alive, kinetic, and emotionally charged to the max. Electric guitars slice through the mix, adding a sharp edge that keeps the whole thing from just being your average pop track. Creating balance nowadays is unbelievably difficult, but he’s hit the mark with ease!
On the vocal end, it’s everything we could’ve hoped for. His voice is front and center, soaring effortlessly while showcasing his range that literally feels limitless. The record as a whole taps into themes of identity, purpose, and self-acceptance. In our opinion though and even though these songs were written personally, it does feel open ended enough to apply your own meanings which is always a plus at the end of the day.
The music video (linked above) amplifies all of this, turning “Skyline Heart” into a full sensory experience. It’s a love letter to Los Angeles. From those sweeping hillside views and iconic landmarks, just the filming alone had to be immensely difficult. We don’t want to give too much away…so please give it a watch ahead of enjoying the full album!
On “Skyline Heart” though, it’s really an opener in the truest sense. He sets the tone perfectly for what’s to expect on the entire record and it sort of invites listeners into his world with open arms. You’ll be dancing, singing, and feeling that endless energy that’s burning bright from start to finish. He’s in his own era at the moment and while he’s not a stranger to music, it’s a debut album that’s begging for an immendiate follow up.
