E. Grizzly & Height Keech exceed all expectations on collaborative album, "Megalopolis"

On Megalopolis, E. Grizzly and Height Keech come together to create a tightly wound and progressive hip-hop album that feels less like a casual collaboration and more like a carefully mapped ecosystem. Spanning nine tracks in a lean 27 minutes, the record moves with purpose, capturing the pulse, tension, and intimacy of city life through sharp lyricism, inventive production, and a shared creative vision that’s fully locked in.

Both artists arrive with deep résumés too. E. Grizzly, known for his alt-rap work and his afrobeat punk band Felipe Pupo, brings an instinct for genre disruption and emotion. On the other hand, Height Keech, a Baltimore-based MC and producer with a long list of collaborations across indie and experimental circles, delivers commanding flows and a producer’s ear for texture. Together, and in partnership with A-HA Network, they’ve constructed an album that is literally alive and moving.

The concept behind Megalopolis is rooted in the cities that shaped them, but the execution goes far beyond that. This is a record about density, more along the lines of people, emotions, noise, and ideas. The production is outstanding with rock instrumentation woven seamlessly into hip-hop foundations, giving the album a raw, almost industrial edge without ever sacrificing the groove that makes it so accessible. Guitars grind, drums hit with urgency, and there’s some subtle effects and vocal samples that drift in and out giving the entire record all the texture you could hope for.

Height’s performance is a constant highlight. His flow is agile, moving effortlessly between introspection and confrontation. There’s almost a conversational intimacy to his delivery. E. Grizzly complements this with a broader sonic feel, shaping the atmosphere and tone while grounding the project in something that feels incredibly intimate. Their chemistry is undeniable to say the least, because each artist knows when to lead and when to pull back, allowing the record to breathe and evolve.

Hooks arrive naturally like on “Outside” and the album never overstays its welcome. It’s raw without being abrasive, experimental without losing focus, and actually keeps you hooked from start to finish. The pacing is impeccable too, which in today’s music scape is near impossible to do. When we say they’ve crafted the “album experience”, we legitimately mean it. These songs flow so well together as one album, but at the same time, there’s so many songs like “Street Smarts 101” or “K&A” that could stand alone as singles.

For anyone out there craving hip-hop that’s adventurous and unafraid to blur the lines on what genre actually is, this album hits with a lasting impact.
