Fabian Beltz immerses the listener on original game soundtrack, "Achille"

Delivering something atypical to our normal reviews, we quickly became enamored with Fabian Beltz’ latest original game soundtrack, Achille. Please read on for our stunning review of the record, in addition to a background on the artist.

Currently based out of Wiesbaden, Germany, Fabian Beltz is a 26 year old actor, autodidact, and multi-instrumentalist who has so clearly put his heart and soul into his fully original score for Achille. Crafting this soundtrack that feels like an adventure from start to finish, it’s certainly nothing like we’ve ever reviewed before. Seriously, out of the thousands, it’s easily one of the most original works that has ever come our way. Needless to say, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed our listen and can’t wait for everyone to give it a spin.

Coming in at a total of 10 tracks, spanning right around 27 minutes in length, Fabian wastes not a single second immediately immersing the listener into an atmospheric world of complex instrumentals. We had to put ourselves in the shoes of feeling like we were inside a video game, however it wasn’t difficult as the opener and self-titled track “Achille” does the heavy lifting. Featuring emotional scores that highlight intimate string sections, electronic elements scattered throughout, and a truly versatile feel of sound and style, there’s something for everyone here no matter where you fall on the spectrum of music.

Now we’ve been playing video games for most of our lives and have come across plenty of different soundtracks for games that evoke different moods, but this one really hit another dimension. From the more lively tracks like “Demonfight” to complete opposites like “Way of Life”, Fabian shows off his endless skills as both a composer and instrumental dynamo. We promise it will all make sense once you listen for yourselves, but just know that while the album lacks cohesiveness, we’ve got a feeling it was on purpose due to different moments set in the game. It doesn’t need to flow, because ultimately that’s not the aim in our eyes. As a whole though, you get a look inside the artist and to see the greatness that he’s clearly capable of.
