Ferguson's Daughter lets the listener in on intimate EP, "Blissed Out Blues"

Putting every ounce of her heart and soul into Blissed Out Blues, Ferguson’s Daughter has a total winner on her hands with this release. Please read on for our in-depth review of the record, as well as a background on the artist.

Coming from the artist formerly known as Lindsey Ferguson, her “new” project called Ferguson’s Daughter has just come forth with an introspective look on life titled Blissed Out Blues. Covering some intense topics such as a marriage announcement, life itself, and looking towards the future, this is certainly a lyric-forward EP that gives the listener a glimpse into an artist they might have otherwise been unfamiliar with. There’s an underlying beauty to it all and we sincerely can’t wait for everyone out there to give it a proper and focused listen.

Encapsulating the feeling of becoming an adult, which nowadays can be rough given the uncertainty of life itself, we found Blissed Out Blues to be ultimately positive and optimistic. While it is definitely reflective on the artist’s life as we go on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, these three songs do a stellar job of storytelling. Keeping the instrumentation relatively stripped back was an ideal stylistic choice, because any over the top production gimmicks would have otherwise taken away from the EP’s downtempo feel.

The record clocks in at right around 22 minutes length, however the closer “Panic Attacks In Love” takes up about 10 minutes and serves as one of the most intimate songs we’ve ever heard, seriously. The lyrics speak for themselves, but it’s a tale of the artist suffering an intense panic attack, and if you’ve ever been there than you can relate on an unexplainable level. We don’t want to spoil it of course, but there’s legitimately nothing we’ve heard like this in so long that encapsulates that uneasy feeling and provides such an open dialogue for something that most individuals would tell you to “get over”. Paired with a few erratic piano passages that perfectly mirrored that panicky feeling, we’ve got nothing but positives to point out as a whole.

For now, we urge everyone out there to give this Blissed Out Blues a listen, but to not take it lightly. Keep up with everything Ferguson’s Daughter by checking out the links below too.
