Floe-Joe's Faces debut album "Floe's Nest" gets re-release after 11 years

Released almost 11 years ago only on CD, the debut album titled Floe’s Nest from Floe-Joe’s Faces has received a much needed re-release. Read on for a closer look into this phenomenal record, in addition to a background on the project.

Shared originally in 2012, but now about to get a ton of fresh ears on the project, Floe-Joe’s Faces is finally “back” with Floe’s Nest. Though we never got to listen to this 10+ years ago, we have now, and can absolutely confirm that it’s lived up the hype that’s built through all this time. With help on the production end by the ever talented L-I-O-N and Ben Fairey, they took music originally created for wildly different genres and tweaked it to fit in this project. The end result is glorious and we cannot wait for everyone to hit the play button.

So the story goes on its creation, they “recruited from this diverse group of underground performers who became the ‘Faces’ of the project, creating a sound that defied category or genre”. Though the vocals are certainly major standout moments from beginning to end, for us, this record shines the most in terms of what was able to be created on the production side. It seems as though everything Ben Fairey touches turns to gold and the sincere uniqueness of his contributions are what makes this pop. From the background we’ve received, they utilized abstract sounds like “dancing in tap shoes, hand clapping, beat boxing, spraying paint cans and chanting” to get the desired result. If that doesn’t fit the mold of thinking outside the box, then we honestly don’t know what does.

Another major highlight is the constant juxtaposition of styles and genres presented. For the most part, it’s a fun and creative electronic sound that’s jam packed with grooves, ideal for kicking back or dancing around depending on the mood. However, the tone of the record goes back and forth between an introspection, darkness, and even a little bit of suspense. Floe’s Nest is undoubtedly multi-dimensional, but in a way that’s sort of perfect for all different types of music consumers. No matter what you like, we can guarantee you’ll love it.
