franxie steps it up on a powerful 2nd single, “Nobody’s Home”

On “Nobody’s Home,” Wollongong-based alt-folk artist franxie has more than impressed us once again as she’s turned inward, lowering her voice instead of raising it, and the effect is full on beauty. The track feels like walking through an empty house at dusk, light slanting through windows, and every note heard perfectly with its production. It’s a restrained, emotionally precise release that has this artist on an excellent track for a massive 2026.

Where her debut single “Fucking Around” leaned into confrontation, this new release inhabits withdrawal. The shift is slight but meaningful. Built on minimal acoustic guitar and delicate, nearly weightless production touches, the song places franxie’s vocals squarely at the center. There’s nowhere to hide, and she doesn’t try to. Her voice arrives completely angelic, carrying a calm that gives you no choice but to hang on every single word.

Lyrically, she’s excelled at painting emotional states without overexplaining them. The writing captures dissociation and emotional shutdown not as dramatic events but as quiet processes. The words land with clarity, each line contributing to a wider landscape that feels both specific and strangely universal. On only her second single released, without disparaging the debut, this song automatically feels like a step up.

Though, the production choices are crucial to the song’s impact. Everything feels intentional in its restraint. The acoustic guitar carries the structure while some very subtle effects flicker at the edges for a tad of depth. Nothing distracts from the emotional of it all though! Instead, the arrangement gently supports it, allowing the song to unfold at its nearly four minute runtime.

As part of an ongoing, self-produced body of work, “Nobody’s Home” feels like a moment of pause rather than a conclusion. Franxie is revisiting older material while writing new songs, releasing music throughout 2026 with a focus on creative freedom. It’s only January, so you best believe we’re going to be patiently waiting for whatever’s next.

The song is undeniably effortlessly beautiful and a quietly powerful way to begin the year. Not only should you check out the debut to hop on the franxie bandwagon, but go ahead and give this song a spin to stay up to date. Make sure to follow along for the latest as well!
