Gabe Aree delivers a genre-bending triumph on album, "MUSIC SAVED MY LIFE" - Interview

There's such an immense amount of fearlessness running through "MUSIC SAVED MY LIFE," and it makes sense once you understand where Gabe Aree is coming from as an artist. The singer, songwriter, and producer has been writing music since he was just 9 years old, starting with a song called "Lonely," and that lifelong devotion to putting words and feeling into music comes through powerfully on this sophomore effort. Grab your nicest pair of headphones and sink into an outstanding album experience.

What immediately stood out was just how experimental and genre diverse this record is. Aree refuses to stay in one lane for long, and honestly, that's exactly what makes this album so exciting. Some tracks lean into shimmering synthpop, others drift into dreamy, atmospheric territory, and still others pull back into something more stripped down and singer-songwriter focused. We feel like that range could easily feel disjointed in less capable hands, but Aree pulls it together into something that genuinely feels like a complete album experience rather than a scattered collection of ideas. For us, the energy was like a rollercoaster.

A big part of that cohesion has to come down to his vocals, which are outstanding from the very first track to the last. There's real versatility in his delivery, shifting tone and texture to match whatever mood each song calls for, while still carrying a consistent emotional throughline. The production is a major highlight too, clearly crafted with a ton of care and intention. Every single track has its own distinct atmosphere while still feeling connected to the larger world of the record.

Lyrically, this is a heavy, personal album, and you can feel that weight. Aree clearly poured a lot of himself into these songs, and that vulnerability gives the record real staying power. He's also always defied easy categorization, both musically and visually, and that same boundary pushing spirit runs through every corner of this project.

We just sat down with Gabe to talk through the making of "MUSIC SAVED MY LIFE," and it was a genuinely rich conversation. He opened up about the production choices behind the record, his creative process, and the deeper meaning driving the whole project, giving us a real look into just how personal and intentional this album is for him. Hearing him talk through it only deepened our appreciation. We 100% hope you give our conversation a listen, along with the album, to really furthe understand what you’re about to get into.

"MUSIC SAVED MY LIFE" is a bold statement, genre-fluid and unafraid to take risks while never losing what makes it unique. To call it impressive would still be an understatement.
