George Jano describes his new EP, "Under The Sun, Vol. 1" - Interview

Fresh off the release of his stellar new record Under The Sun, Vol. 1, we got the lovely opportunity to sit and speak with George Jano all about the background of the album and so much more. Check out our full interview below.

For those somehow out of the loop, George Jano is putting together an eclectic mix of Folk, Blues, Rock, and Americana that’s combined to create a sensationally lush and relaxing sound. On his newest album Under The Sun, Vol. 1, it was a legitimate treat to get a much needed behind the scenes on the album. As he’s continued to release ever since his debut Good For You, it’s quickly appearing that experimentation is a stylistic part of his sound, so we’re quite excited to see where he heads in the future.

Coming in at 5 total tracks, Under The Sun. Vol. 1 is thankfully a part of a trilogy of EP’s that are set to disperse over the course of 2022 and 2023. Aiming to combine 15 songs in total, getting to talk to George about the trajectory of their message, sound, and so much more is sure to provide a wide array of style for the artist going forward. While we pinned him down in the interview to give us a perfect starter song, our sincere recommendation would really be to start at the beginning with “Put It Down” and let it flow through. You’re going to experience a nice mix of folksiness, but so much of what we enjoyed about George’s mix is his transitions between songs. The way that he’s able to accurately tell a story with his imagery-filled lyricism is super impressive.

Now while of course we recommend you check out his latest, you’d surely be remiss if you didn’t start at the beginning with his debut Good For You. At 10 songs, George truly delivers the ideal starting point to his discography and a certain genuineness in his emotions. As he produces most of his music, he’s learned a thing or two over the years, but specifically for a debut this listen feels like something of a seasoned veteran. We find that track listing is so important in setting the tone on the full album experience and the way that this runs from start to finish is something to behold. The pacing does wonders and really emits a true sense of passion from song to song. Without a doubt, some of our favorites were “Down The Stream”, “Circle”, and “Don’t Mind Me”. We still recommend a full listen, but specifically those songs stood out as true slow burners.

All in all though, George Jano’s music is plain and simple, amazing. Getting to speak with him all about it was the cherry on top to an already fantastic listen through his discography. Do yourselves a big favor and please check out the links below in order to listen, follow along, and stay tuned for everything else that’s on the way in 2022. There’s a lot coming!
