graymattr beats expectations on collaboration EP, "Finally Free"

Exploring a wide variety of genre fusion, graymattr has just shared a seriously fantastic new EP he’s titled Finally Free. We are loving it! Keep reading as we break down our thoughts, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.

Racking up accolade after accolade as of recently, graymattr has added on to his rapidly growing discography with an outstanding new EP, Finally Free. Featuring two immensely impressive collaborators on each track, Lánre and Dayne Black, all three of these artists have gone above and beyond in regards to creating a stylistic expansive listening experience. Rooted in EDM but including so much more, we can’t wait for everyone to dive in and hit the play button.

Through four tracks, two of them being instrumental versions, graymattr and company have accurately combined a genre from “each member of the trio’s musical backgrounds:. Listeners will experience glimmers of R&B, Hip Hop, and a whole lot of electronic production that cuts right through and keeps the energy quite high. Though the instrumental versions are 100% worth your time and energy, our focus is on the two main tracks, “Finally Free” and “New Era”. Though we’ve made it clear there’s a ton of influence coming through from their personal taste, it also gives you an opportunity to enjoy two other artists that you might not be familiar with. If anything, we’d recommend you explore their music too just to get an idea of what exactly they brought to the table considering it’s one massive collaboration.

As for the actual music, well it’s safe to say that everything displayed here has blown us away. First and foremost, the production continues to be a major highlight as we go back for subsequent listens. Enjoying this on a nice pair of headphones is an absolute must, mainly because the mix goes so deep in the subtleties that are hiding in the background. We also felt that the vocals effortlessly matched the mood, tone, and ultimately the emotion that these songs give off. Typically in our opinion, collaborations tend to feel one sided at times, but the wealth was shared and everyone gets the chance to bring and show off their best capabilities.

Whether you love electronic music or not, there’s more than enough going on here sonically for any music lover to enjoy. Please click those links below to listen, follow along, and of course to keep up with much more on the way.
