Guy Davis strikes gold on nostalgic debut LP, "The Electric Wet"

With his debut album The Electric Wet all prepped and ready for its big release, our preview listen of Guy Davis’ record has surpassed all our expectations. Please read on for our full in-depth review, in addition to a background on this breakout artist.

Currently based out of London, Guy Davis’ The Electric Wet has seriously impressed us on multiple levels. Channeling an eclectic sound and mix of indie rock that embodies an 80’s synth wave feel to it, this is one of the more cohesive listens we’ve heard in quite some time. With its official release coming on October 1st, we can confidently state that everyone reading should be getting quite excited to listen.

As this is the artist’s first major release, the ultimate goal being set is to get this out and heard by as many people as possible. We have the sneaking suspicion though that once ears start listening, they’re going to hop on the Guy Davis bandwagon for more. Seriously, the nostalgic feeling that The Electric Wet has embodied is like nothing we’ve experienced in some time. For us, it felt like something that would’ve been playing in a vintage movie or TV show during the highly emotional moments. Whether it was Guy’s stunning vocals that gave off that vibe or not, we’re not sure, but it doesn’t really matter because it all turned out so well.

Another thing that we made the connection with early on is how well we felt that these songs would translate in a live setting. From start to finish on our initial listen, the immense passion and love you can audibly and emotionally hear coming through was palpable. Truly, every important moment was wonderfully placed and it’s really what made us fall in love so quickly with the record. You can completely imagine Guy Davis up on stage baring his soul to the audience with these songs that you know he’s worked so hard on.

Honestly, there isn’t much else to say here without giving anything else away. We’re so excited for all the readers out there to give The Electric Wet a listen as soon as it releases on October 1st, 2021.
