Hatim crafts hypnotic experience on his single, "Feels"

Based in Vancouver, Hatim is blending up a delicate mix of R&B, Soul, and many other little flavors that show themselves within his catalog. While we absolutely loved his EP Summer Fling, we’re going to keep the focus on one of the standouts of the record, “Feels”. Expertly produced and potentially the pinnacle of the record, it’s the song that has been the most memorable for us and we can’t wait for you all to give it a listen.
Coming second in the track listing of Summer Fling, we definitively think the EP really opens up in creativity and originality once this song hits. As the single goes on, the backing instrumentation begins to perfectly layer until you’re left with a wavy wall of sound, all the while being serenaded by Hatim’s silky vocals. While it’s slightly psychedelic in feel, it’s really the perfect encapsulation of the blending this artist likes to do with his music. Sure, you get that dose of R&B and Soul, but there’s so much more under the surface that peeks its head out too.
While the song is reminiscent of a ballad, keeping the focus on the complex theme of some unrequited feelings, it fits so snugly in the context of the EP as a whole. As we mentioned multiple times in our initial review of Summer Fling, Hatim really did an exemplary job of creating something original and spiritually moving, but it’s songs like this that are implanting his legacy as a true artist.
Of course we’re going to go ahead and recommend you check out this song, but it should be listened to in the order of the songs on the EP. The record is only about 13 minutes, so go ahead and do yourselves a big favor and check it all out below. Enjoy!
