Hippy surpass expectations on 2nd LP, "Falling In Love With Being Alive"

Celebrating its official release coming today on August 27th, 2021, we’re beyond thrilled with the latest album coming from Hippy. Keep reading for our in-depth look on Falling In Love With Being Alive, as well as a background on the band.

Made up of Paul Hipson (singer/songwriter) and Hugh Frizell (guitars), Hippy are an indie rock duo that have been making compelling music since September 2019. Following up their debut album Behind Every Song Is A Story, this duo have topped themselves on their sophomore effort, Falling In Love With Being Alive. Let us make it clear right now, you need to be listening to this record as soon as you can.

As both members are established musicians within the music scene of Glasgow, it was only a matter of time until they got acquainted and started something for themselves. Since their first album though, they’ve been making waves within their local scene and receiving national airplay on Billy Sloan’s BBC Radio Scotland show, among other UK stations. To be honest though, we’re not surprised as their debut record was wonderful. Expect a slew of more recognition as ears get listening to this new record.

Speaking of their latest, please allow us to tell you how much we enjoyed it. Right from the start on this 12 track output, you can fully expect a cohesive listen that is jam packed with meaningful lyricism, soulful vocals, and a complex instrumentation that is sure to keep your ears glued to the music. Picking out a “favorite” would be an impossible task, mainly because the record flowed so effortlessly for us. We’d recommend starting off with the opener “Consistently Inconsistent” and letting it play to the end.

Immediately after our initial listen, we envisioned ourselves witnessing this in a live setting as we’re positive it’s going to translate incredibly well. Even better though is that the band has two upcoming shows at The Alhambra Retro Bar, Bellshill (Aug 28th) and Nice N Sleazy, Glasgow (September 17th). While we wish we were in the area to witness it, everyone in attendance is surely in for an inspiring night of music.

With all that being said though, this is the perfect introduction into Hippy, and we sincerely can’t wait for you all to check out the album. We’ve included all the important links below to listen and follow along for more. Enjoy!
