Leather Laces build a sonic War Machine with “Marching in the Fog”
With Marching in the Fog, Leather Laces’s third single, the “cyber militant unit” pushes their sound into something massive, cinematic, and downright powerful. Equal parts rock and industrial nightmare, the track doesn’t move so much as it drags the listener step by step into a dark zone where guitars, synths, and drums blur into a single, relentless wall of sound.
The four-piece collective, SHOE, DripString, Chokeloop, and Slughair, have always thrived on operating less like a band and more like a machine as each member is locked into a role that keeps the whole thing going. On this track, the synergy is undeniable. The central pulse comes from _SHOE’s programming, a rhythmic backbone that feels like a drill sergeant pounding commands into your skull. DripString provides corroded analog textures that sear the edges, while Chokeloop’s ritualistic cycles coil and release, giving the song its tense, constricted heartbeat. Slughair anchors it all with low-end grit so distorted it feels radioactive.
The guitars arrive not as riffs but as bursts of distortion, a raw texture instead of melody. The percussion, programmed yet absolutely crushing, mimics military cadence. By the midpoint, the track dissolves into a haze of static and processed noise With brutal precision towards the end, the full weight of the arrangement slams back, dragging the listener into the fight again.
It’s easy to imagine this single sitting comfortably on playlists exploring cyberpunk or heavy synthwave, but it also leans into pounding hard rock territory with its sheer weight. The industrial and electronic elements are right in your face making for something intensely original.
In addition to it all, with the announcement of their final pre-album single Mind-Control Techniques, arriving in September, the anticipation for their debut full-length in early 2026 feels downright electric.
Leather Laces are undeniably building something larger than music as they’re creating a world in a sea of music that actually feels fresh. Grab a pair of headphones and lock in! You can check it out, follow along for more, and stay tuned for the latest by clicking those links below.
