LED arrives in a blaze of Indie Pop glory with debut single, "Lies All Lies"

Sometimes a band comes along that reminds you of the pure, unfiltered magic of making music for the love of it. LED — the newly minted indie pop rock trio out of East Hollywood — is one of those bands. Composed of Layne Olivia, Lockett, and Edie Yvonne, this group of teenage songwriters (ages 14 to 16) delivers a debut single with Lies All Lies that’s as emotionally electric as it is endlessly replayable. It’s a shot of youthful defiance and heartfelt honesty, bottled up and set to a hook-laden soundtrack that feels both warmly nostalgic and unmistakably of-the-moment.

The origin story of LED reads like something straight out of a coming-of-age film. The three met in the summer of 2024 at a film camp near Malibu, where amidst the heat, salt air, and teenage chaos, they wrote their first song together for a short film produced by the Pac Theater. What started as a one-off collaboration quickly revealed deeper chemistry, and within months they’d formed a band, a bond, and a shared creative language. Lies All Lies is the first official offering from that union, and if it’s any indication of what’s to come, indie pop just got a lot more exciting.

The track itself is a fuzzy, infectious burst of energy. It rides in on a wave of jangly, sun-soaked guitars and punchy drums that recall the golden days of early 2000s indie rock, but there’s a contemporary shimmer to it — a sleek, polished edge that keeps it from leaning too heavily on nostalgia. The vocal interplay between Layne and Edie is one of the track’s greatest strengths: raw, aching, and utterly genuine, the two trade off lines with an emotionality that feels lived-in beyond their years.

Lyrically, Lies All Lies taps into the timeless themes of teenage heartache and betrayal, but there’s a sharpness in the writing that keeps it from falling into cliché. It’s equal parts rebellion and vulnerability, a balancing act that few artists of any age manage as deftly as LED does here. The chorus is tailor-made for shouting along in crowded rooms — cathartic and bittersweet in the best way.

What really makes Lies All Lies stand out, though, is its authenticity. There’s no calculated pop sheen or overproduced gloss here; this is music made by three friends figuring out life and love and loss in real time, and that honesty bleeds through every note. The production is crisp but not overly polished, allowing the grit of the guitars and the quiver of emotion in the vocals to shine through.

In a time when much of indie pop can feel algorithmically generated or self-consciously retro, LED’s debut lands like a breath of fresh, Pacific air. It’s the kind of song that reminds you of summer nights spent with the windows down, screaming lyrics you just learned an hour ago but already feel like you’ve known forever. Having reviewed Edie’s catalogue many times, we had an idea of what to expect, but with the other artist’s collaborative spirit in the air, they’ve all created something that feels like the perfect amalgamation.

With Lies All Lies, LED hasn’t just announced their arrival — they’ve staked a claim. This is a band with a voice, a vision, and a palpable chemistry, and it’s thrilling to imagine where that might lead. It’s messy, it’s magic, and it’s exactly what indie pop rock needs right now.

Here’s to hoping this isn’t just a one off! Either way, we urge you to listen in, follow along, and to stay tuned for an inevitable follow up.
