LED nail the harmonies on alt-rocking new single, “Your Perfect”
Hearing young artists tap into emotions that feel impossibly big and absolutely nailing the dismount gives an immeasurable amount of hope for the future of music! “Your Perfect,” the latest single from LED, does exactly that, capturing the messy and aching reality of not quite feeling like enough and turning it into something loud and undeniably addictive.
Formed by Edie Yvonne, Layne Olivia, and Lockett Pentz, the Los Angeles-based trio feels less like a typical band and more like a creative collision. Each member brings a distinct style and identity to the table, but when they come together, something beautiful happens. Their voices transform and create what can only be described as a “third voice,” like a unified sound that feels bigger than the sum of its parts.
Written during a whirlwind spring break that included time in the studio between shows at legendary venues like the Whisky A Go Go, “Your Perfect” carries that raw, in-the-moment energy. There’s no overthinking here, just pure emotional honesty channeled into a track that hits hard and sticks around. It’s rooted in the realities of teenage life, the drama, the unspoken crushes, or the quiet pressure to measure up to someone else’s expectations. It taps into something universal, no matter if you’re 17 or 50, we’ve all been there.
On the instrumental side of things, the song plants itself firmly in the alternative rock space with a sound that’s oh so current. The instrumentation is rich, guitars that crunch with purpose, drums that drive the track forward with confidence, and some killer bass lines that give off a real steady groove. It’s polished but it’s still got that flash of grittiness that you need to really get the point across.
The real standout has to be the vocal work too. The harmonies between Edie and Layne are nothing short of stunning. There’s a push and pull in their delivery and moments of vulnerability colliding with bursts of intensity. When you’re on the same wavelength with your bandmates, it’s almost as if something like this can’t be taught, you’re just feelin’ it in the moment.
We’ve followed Edie’s individual releases closely, and hearing her in this collaborative setting feels like watching an artist expand her palette in real time. It’s obvious what she brings to the group setting, but let’s not discount Layne and Lockett either. We’ll surely be going on a deep dive through their music too.
Seriously though, “Your Perfect” is incredibly catchy, it sneaks into your head and refuses to leave. That sense of questioning, of trying to understand where you stand in someone else’s eyes, resonates long after the final note fades. LED may be young, but age doesn’t matter when you’re making music like this that just hits.
