Lucius Echo unveils a genre-expansive record, "Entropy"

You never know what you’re going to get when Lucius Echo releases a record, but on his latest titled Entropy, he’s so clearly delivered the goods. Please read on for our full review of the record, in addition to our refresher on this talented artist.

Continuing on and loving everything this diverse and inventive artist creates, his latest album Entropy is no different in the slightest. What is essentially a compilation of songs that match the meaning of the title track “Entropy”, this record’s aim is to directly highlight the different facets and corners of sound that Lucius is able to reach. If this is your introduction to the artist, this is legitimately the perfect entry to point.

Coming in at 8 total tracks, spanning right around the 22 minute mark in run time, this album for us flowed by a little too quickly but in the best way possible. As soon as we clicked the play button on the opener “Kanji”, it effortlessly zoomed by as Lucius Echo immediately enamored us with his range. We’ll go ahead and let everyone know right now that there’s always highlights across his songs and albums, but it should go without saying that his flow and delivery continue to be the guiding light of his music.

Typically we’ll recommend a song or two as an introduction and a taste, but considering that Entropy is quite expansive in its genres and styles, go ahead and just click play at the beginning for the full experience. However songs like “Ishvara”, “Kit”, and “Downfall” really encapsulate what Lucius is about. So much of this music is atmospheric in tone, but that’s not to discount the lyricism either. What sometimes feels like there’s a ton to focus on because so much is happening, don’t forget to make those connections with themes and subcontext of Entropy.

Starting to wrap things up, we also want to make the plea to the new audience for Lucius Echo that the rest of his music is 100% worth your time and effort to check out as well. We’ve done reviews on nearly all of it in the past and the music still holds up today!
