Marco Weber’s “Pot Holes” digs deep into the pulse of the underground
Some dance tracks are designed for instant gratification with giant drops, obvious hooks, or fireworks exploding every thirty seconds. “Pot Holes” by Marco Weber takes the opposite route. It doesn’t rush toward you. It pulls you under slowly, patiently tightening its grip until suddenly you realize you’ve been completely absorbed into its hypnotic machinery.
The Zurich-based producer and DJ has been steadily refining a sound rooted in groove, movement, and immersive atmosphere, and “Pot Holes” may be one of the clearest distillations of his creative identity yet. Released through deeperdub, the track thrives in that rich pocket between Deep Tech and underground House music where subtlety becomes all the power. Rather than overwhelming the listener with excess, Weber focuses on precision with these outstanding interlocking rhythms, gritty textures, and basslines that seem to vibrate through concrete.
From the opening moments, “Pot Holes” gives off a mood that feels both tense and fluid. There’s an understated confidence in the production that separates it from more generic club fare. Weber understands the value of restraint. Every percussion hit, every atmospheric detail, every low-end pulse feels intentionally placed inside the mix like components of a slowly unfolding mechanical sculpture.
The bass work though? Wooooow. It never dominates the track in an obvious way, but it quietly controls everything underneath the surface. This feels like music designed for movement, but not necessarily spectacle. It’s less of a festival anthem and more like the perfect 2:17 a.m. club record.
The release also includes an extended remix version featuring Em Pathik, which expands the hypnotic qualities of the original even further. Where the main version feels tightly coiled and immediate, the extended interpretation stretches the atmosphere outward. Let us say confidently, both are worth a spin!
