Mari Dangerfield crafts sonic exploration on debut album, "Love And Other Machines"

On her debut album titled Love And Other Machines, Mari Dangerfield has completely floored us with this genre-expansive performance. Please do yourselves a favor and read on for our glowing review of the record, as well as a background on the artist.

Getting her musical start through YouTube and building up a following between 2018-2021, the time has finally come and Mari Dangerfield’s debut album Love And Other Machines delivered on unmeasurable levels. Describing it as “quirkpop of the mind, body, and laptop”, we fully understood the meaning after giving it a start to finish listen. We highly suggest you do the same as soon as we finish telling you all about it.

Featuring glimmers and bits of alternative pop, electronic, and plenty of musical theatre influences, the standout and highlight by far had to have been Mari’s extremely unique and inviting vocals. Coming in at 12 songs, spanning right around 36 minutes in length, Mari shows off her eclectic style of delivery in a fashion that keeps the listener piqued as soon the opener “Love Machine” graces their ears. Honestly, we didn’t know what to expect when clicking play, however we’ve fallen in love with everything that surrounds Mari Dangerfield.

It would be an absolute shame if we didn’t point out the crowning achievement in production on this record too. Our other recommendation besides listening would be to give this a listen with the volume cranked up on a nice pair of headphones as to not miss out on the fun little effects that present themselves on the listen. Tracks like “Arrow” and “Virtually” stood out to us probably the most in their daring nature to include so many sonic and atmospheric elements. From top to bottom, there legitimately isn’t a single negative or critique we could point out here.

As much as we loved the album, we can’t wait to go and explore Mari’s YouTube channel to see just how far she’s come since the time she started. The all encompassing message we’d like to pass off here is that this artist is worth your time and effort to hop down the rabbit hole and explore everything she’s made thus far.
