Mehmet Akbal shares his suspenseful original score for "The Cure"

Delivering an impeccably suspenseful accompaniment to the film The Cure, Mehmet Akbal’s original score of the same name was nothing but pure beauty in music form. Please read on for our in-depth review of the music, as well as a background on this promising artist.

Every good film needs an equally if not better score to create drama while watching. Thankfully. Mehmet Akbal put himself up to the task and over delivered as a whole. For those out of the loop, Mehmet is a music producer, composer, and audio engineer who’s got an ear for true composition. Currently on a festival run, The Cure is a film written, directed, and produced by Florian Müller. While we haven’t seen it yet, the score itself has convinced us to check it out as soon as we possibly can.

Coming in at five total tracks, spanning right around eleven minutes or so in length, Mehmet immediately immerses the listener in an unfamiliar world of sound. Fully instrumental in its own right, you almost feel as if you’re on a sonic journey with no end. While we can imagine that these songs become even more powerful while watching them with the context of the movie, even as standalones, they blew us away completely. With idols like Ennio Morricone, John Williams, and Hans Zimmer, Mehmet had tough shoes to fill, but he really came through on something immensely impressive.

Featuring a plethora of string arrangements scattered throughout, we found that this score brought us feelings of calm and relaxation, however there was certainly a juxtaposition of anxiety trickled in too. Right when you think you’re feeling comfortable and have an idea of where the music is headed, it flips and goes another direction. If anything, our focus was 100% on the listen with zero distractions during. If for any reason we’re ever in the market of creating a film, no doubt, we’ll be knocking on Mehmet’s door to help compose and arrange.

With all that being said, our sincere recommendation is to give this a listen. If you can track down the film to watch, even better. For now, please check out all of the following links below to stay up to date on everything Mehmet Akbal. Enjoy!
