Mountain Town unveils their debut album, "Far From Home"

Serving up an inspired debut album that goes by the name of Far From Home, Mountain Town have completely nailed it on their first full effort. Please read on for our glowing review of the record, as well as a much needed background on the band.

Currently representing the music scene in Utah, Mountain Town are an Americana band that are effortlessly blending together glimmers of country, rock, and beyond. Writing specifically about our common struggles that unite so many of us, their debut album Far From Home features a diverse usage of instrumentation, dynamic vocal deliveries, a crisp production, and so much more. Without a doubt, we are highly recommending everyone out there click the play button on this as soon as possible.

Led by and written by Jonathan Kolon, Far From Home has taken us on a journey through imagery-filled lyricism and some seriously upbeat musical passages. From start to finish, Mountain Town as a whole immerses the listener into their record right off the bat with “This Highway Ends” that delicately gives you a taste of what’s to come. We felt it acted as the perfect opener because it gives you an idea of what’s to come and sort of straps you in for a memorable ride of lovely original tunes. Though we definitely had our favorite tracks like “Ride The Raven” and “Shipyard Town”, one thing that needs to be said is how cohesive the album really is. The songs are certainly differentiated with particular moments, but each song gives off that signature essence of pure Americana music.

Now while there’s plenty of individual moments we could classify as highlights, we need to give a specific shoutout to Jonathan’s vocals and how well they carried Far From Home. It’s one thing to sing line by line, but the emotion and sheer passion he brought to every moment is what sets this apart from any other record. He’s got you hanging on every word, waiting for the next, all the while showing plenty of range. That was a selling point for us and what will definitely have us looking forward to the eventual follow up.

For now while we patiently wait, go ahead and check out those links below to listen, follow along, and of course to keep up with all news.
