Music by Jeremy rolls out his new album with "Scenes from a Well Worn Path - Side One"

This release does something extraordinary and plainly refuses to play it safe. "Scenes from a Well Worn Path - Side One" is that kind of introduction with already so much more that’s in the works and on the way. This is the first of four installments in a sprawling 24 track double album from Banbury, England artist Music by Jeremy, rolling out between August and November 2026, and this opening chapter of six songs makes an incredibly strong case for the ambition of the whole project.

To say this release covers a lot of ground would somehow be an understatement! Across these six tracks, Jeremy moves between acoustic folk, soul, and so much more but somehow it all holds together thanks to his consistent lyrical precision and emotional honesty. The record’s lead single "Be Me" sets the tone out of the gate beautifully. It’s an indie-pop anthem about the sheer exhaustion of performing a version of yourself for other people, melodically catchy but lyrically sharp enough to really land.

That sharpness runs through the whole release, believe us when we say that. Jeremy tackles an incredibly wide range of subject matter here, moving from grief and moral failure to things as unexpected as Keynesian economics and plastic-eating bacteria, all filtered through what he calls "joyous realism”. It's a genuinely brave way to build a debut and his storytelling throughout feels thoughtful rather than just string words together for the sake of it. He actually believes in the messaging.

Musically, the vocals are excellent throughout! They carry a ton of weight and the production is crisp and clean, giving each genre shift room to feel distinct without ever losing the record's cohesiveness. The acoustic work was a particular highlight for us as it’s warm and textured, helping build a really lovely sense of atmosphere across these tracks. There's also a great mix of energy at play, moving between quieter, more reflective moments and bigger, more driving ones without ever feeling jarring. When he lets his vocals go off on “How to be Good”, that’s when we knew we were going to lock in for the rest of the record.

Working entirely independently from a home studio, Jeremy plays all the guitars and bass himself, while using generative AI tools trained on his own voice to fill out the rest of the band he couldn't assemble himself. Rather than feeling like a gimmick, it comes across as a genuinely human choice, technology used as a tool to finally stop performing and start being honest. We understand the amount of time and energy it goes into putting a legitimate band together, so for him, we get that this was the next best option.

As an opening statement, "Scenes from a Well Worn Path - Side One" is a remarkably confident and mature debut. It leaves you genuinely excited for the next three installments, and it's clear Jeremy is an artist who's been waiting a long time to say exactly what he means.
