My Chemical Romance announce "The Black Parade" 20th Anniversary Expanded Collection
Twenty glorious years after The Black Parade first marched into the world, My Chemical Romance are giving the album its most complete rerelease yet. The band has announced The Black Parade (20th Anniversary), an expanded collection arriving October 23 on Reprise Records, celebrating a record that's since gone RIAA-certified 4x Platinum, landed on Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time," and shaped an entire generation of fans and artists across genres.
To kick things off, the band shared "The Sharpest Lives (Live from Hoboken)" in streaming audio for the first time, paired with a standalone video of the performance. The footage pulls from a night that's become legend among longtime fans: October 24, 2007, at the 200-capacity Maxwell's in the band's own backyard, originally captured only on the DVD portion of 2008's The Black Parade Is Dead! It's a raw, visceral watch, the kind of intimate club footage that hits differently than any arena show could, and a fitting way to reintroduce an album built on that same unfiltered intensity.
That Hoboken show turns out to be more central to this reissue than a single bonus track suggests. Among the six additional tracks included in the expanded collection are two more recordings from that same Maxwell's night, both previously unavailable on any format, and three fan-favorite B-sides that have spent years scattered across different releases and compilations. The My Chemical Romance store is currently offering autographed cassettes, CDs, and 2LP vinyl in an exclusive Bloodline Red colorway, alongside a Baby Pink 2LP variant, a Black & Tan "Galaxy" pressing available through Hot Topic in the US and HMV in the UK, and a high-quality, one-step 180-gram black vinyl edition limited to just 7,000 copies, cut directly from the original analog master. For collectors chasing the full package, there's also a store-exclusive hologram vinyl featuring a laser-etched hologram of James Jean's original album art, housed in a gatefold jacket with a removable O-card, new art insert, and printed inner sleeve, plus a Concrete Grey 1LP colorway. Every version, the band has made clear, was mastered with real care to preserve the original recording's depth and detail rather than simply repackaging it.
The reissue lands as My Chemical Romance are deep into their blockbuster, critically acclaimed Black Parade 2026 stadium tour, which reaches San Antonio's Alamodome this weekend. The production has become a genuine spectacle in its own right, a full theatrical staging complete with costumes, characters, elaborate set design, additional performers, and pyrotechnics, split into two distinct halves. The first drops the band into the fictional, authoritarian world of Draag for a front-to-back performance of The Black Parade, while the second shifts to a B-stage for a set pulling favorites from across the band's entire catalog.
Between a tour this ambitious and a reissue built with this much care, My Chemical Romance are proving The Black Parade has lost none of its power twenty years on.
