New Laconia craft a multimedia experience with "Stardust Bear Bazaar, Pt. 1"
New Laconia’s latest release, Stardust Bear Bazaar, Pt. 1, is an invitation into a sprawling universe where music, animation, and storytelling collide for something incredibly cool. The Ukrainian collective, led by founder Alex Syniakov and a team of accomplished writers, musicians, and producers, have built something bigger than a single song. They’ve created a literal world that feels like equal parts rock opera, animated series, and “cosmic pub crawl”.
The track itself is brief at just over two minutes, but it wastes no time in delivering a genre-bending punch. Leaning into jazz and pop influences on this one, it bounces with an upbeat energy that’s quite whimsical. There’s a playfulness in the arrangement, especially those horns, yet beneath it lies a sense of craft. The groove is tight and the sound feels cinematic, as if it were written not just to be heard but to be seen (which it 100% is). Spliced into the music are spoken-word passages from the video’s central character, the Bartender Bear, whose voice adds a layer of narrative depth that keeps the track from being just another song. It’s part soundtrack, part dialogue, part world-building, and the result is something that needs to be followed along with as they continue to release.
To experience it fully, you have to see the animated video (linked above). This is where the project’s creativity truly shines. It’s colorful, charming, and just surreal enough to stick in your mind long after the credits roll. The visuals are more than eye candy, they’re a crucial storytelling device, expanding the lore and pulling you deeper into the sci-fi detective narrative that New Laconia is building piece by piece. The short runtime works in its favor at only two minutes, but it definitely leaves you curious and hungry for the next installment.
Honestly, the animation without the soundtrack wouldn’t carry the same impact. Together, they’ve created a multimedia experience that feels ahead of its time.
