Coming out strong with a sensational debut single titled “Mary Ann”, Novac Bull has set the stage and tone with hopefully so much more yet to come. Keep reading as we take a closer look into the track, as well as a background on this artist.

Novac Bull's latest release, "Mary Ann," is more than just a catchy rock track; it is a tribute to a strong Indigenous Australian woman who lived in the 1800s. Through her earthy vocals, backed by sweeping acoustic guitars, Novac tells the extraordinary story of Mary Ann Bugg and her romance. Not only does this serve as an outstanding homage to a great woman, but also shows off the depth and versatility of what Novac is capable of in the future. Without a doubt, we’re excited for everyone to give this one a spin.

As an Indigenous artist from Western Australia, Novac brings a unique perspective and rich musical experience to her craft. Having performed in and supported bands for nearly two decades, she has honed her skills in Folk and Blues, gracing stages at events such as Big Day Out, Blues and Roots, Queenscliff, and supporting the Indie Rock band The Cruel Sea. In this case though, she’s finally delivered something special that she can claim as her own. Now we’re not 100% what her shows have looked like in the past, but we can only imagine that there’s more originals to come. Certainly “Mary Ann” is a fantastic start as it’s virtually guaranteed to woo the listener as the laidback, calming, and downright relaxing vibes flow through this effortlessly.

With "Mary Ann," Novac showcases her talent not only as a musician but also as a storyteller, giving voice to a powerful and often overlooked figure in Australian history. The song's blend of rock and acoustic elements creates a dynamic and emotive sound that perfectly captures the spirit of Mary Ann's life and legacy. Overall, "Mary Ann" is a testament to Novac Bull's talent as an artist and her commitment to celebrating Indigenous Australian stories and culture. It is a song that not only entertains but also educates, reminding us of the strength and resilience of Indigenous women like Mary Ann Bugg.
