Ollie Twohill goes big on explosive new single, "Neverland"
A shot of adrenaline right into the senses, Ollie Twohill has made a swift return with an outstanding new single titled “Neverland”. Please read on for our positive review of the track, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.
Keeping consistent with his sixth overall single release since October of 2020, Ollie Twohill continues to excel and experiment with his ever growing sound. His newest single “Neverland” definitely is his most upbeat listen yet, but is also filled with infinite grooves and passion through his dynamic vocals. With pop punk thankfully making a resurgence, it’s songs like these that not only make us feel nostalgic, but pull us into the future of the genre. Without a doubt, we’re urging all the readers to please check this one out.
On the background of the song, Ollie says, “I guess this song is a place in my mind called ‘Neverland’, which is an oasis and retreat from the daily challenges of life, particularly the current world turmoil and instability”. He goes on to dedicate it to the sect of people that don’t quite fit in and ultimately need a place to escape. In our opinion though, we truly think he’s nailed it in that regard because “Neverland” really does hold this specific mood of breaking free and looking towards a better future. It could just be the pop punk genre as a whole, but we look to the expression in the vocals of letting loose and feeling like no one can contain you in the moment.
As Ollie is currently located on the Gold Coast of Australia, getting this song together was literally a global effort as it was finished up and mixed in New York. For all that were involved, they certainly paid close attention to detail in getting this right. The production is expansive through the instrumentation and the way everything is mixed, but there’s even something about Ollie’s voice that makes it all feel intimate too. While he’s only released a handful of songs so far, we’re not exaggerating when we say that we’re really looking forward to what else comes out because this is legitimately some of the most inspired music we’ve heard in quite some time. For now though, we’ll be patiently waiting for more!
