Oso redefines R&B on single "Over the Moon" featuring Eric Bellinger

You can audibly hear the improvements in Oso’s music from one release to another, but especially so on his latest, “Over the Moon”. Please read along with us as we break down our thoughts on the track, as well as a background on the artist as well.

Joe Amoroso, who is much better known as Oso, is an R&B artist hailing from Queens, New York. With his first single release of the year titled “Over the Moon” featuring Eric Bellinger, he’s honing in his sound and combining the classic R&B melodies and crossover beats that we expect. While we’re sure there’s more on the way, we couldn’t help but be overwhelmingly impressed by this newest output.

What started out for Oso as initially collecting CD’s from the greats such as Jagged Edge, New Edition, and Jodeci, quickly turned into an inexplicable passion to make something for himself. Turning into a self described “studio fiend” happened seemingly overnight and the path to becoming enamored with musicianship continued on. If there’s one thing we at least know for sure, it’s that the pure artistry within the production comes through on Oso’s music clear as day.

Specifically on “Over the Moon”, the track could not have possibly been let out at a better time. The weather is heating up by us, which means we’re always looking for tracks like this to add to our summer playlists. Without thinking twice about it, it got added, and thus created a rabbit hole within our team to discover the rest of the artist’s music. The way that he’s effortlessly shaping a modern take on R&B is impressive in its own right, which means looking on towards the future and keeping a close eye on his work is something we’ll be doing with childlike excitement.

While yes, this could technically be considered R&B, it feels more like an amalgamation of everything that’s right with music as a whole. As modern music evolves and genres continue to blur, we think the only thing you can really take from a song at the end of your listen is if you thoroughly enjoyed it and it made you feel something. In all honesty, there was a sense of upliftment and joy that washed over as we finished, and for an artist, that’s all you can really hope for at the end of the day.

It should most likely come as no surprise to the reader, but we have no choice but to highly suggest a listen of “Over the Moon” and a deep dive of Oso’s music as a whole. We’ve done the easy part and let you know what you’re about to get into, but also made it even easier by adding in the important links to listen and follow along below. We hope you enjoy!
