Ripsime reclaims her past sound on 3 re-imagined singles

With the re-release of I’ll Understand, Dare, and Colors of Your Eyes, Ripsime isn’t only revisiting her past, rather she’s reclaimed it. The launch of her own imprint, RIP Records, marks a bold new chapter in her music, but these three early songs remind us that the foundation of her vision was always intact. You’re about to experience a ton of raw emotion, endless experimentation, and a voice that holds them all together. Presented alongside a limited-edition art print crafted by the artist herself, this trio of singles is so much more than just a release.

As the first of the three, I’ll Understand is the quietest of the three, a gentle folk-rooted meditation that showcases her ability to make minimalism feel literally larger than life. The acoustic arrangement is quite delicate, letting her voice float just above the mix. However, it’s the emotional weight she conveys that’s undeniable. The song is fully tender, reflective, and comforting in its vulnerability. It kind of reminds you how powerful simplicity can be when delivered with sincerity, and few artists wield that power the way Ripsime does.

Then there’s Dare, the pulsing Rock hybrid co-written with The Psalms in Los Angeles. Compared to others, it’s really a jolt to the system and a clear sign of the experimental fearlessness that would come to define her later work. It’s bold and magnetic, fusing some pretty minored textured guitars with a grit that feels emotional. Her vocals take on a different edge here, sharp and insistent, riding the production with a kind of confidence. It’s easily the most overtly anthemic of the three, made for you to singalong. We know by the song’s end on even on our first go around, we were humming along with the chorus that is so so catchy.

To complete the trio of re-releases, Colors of Your Eyes glows with a softer warmth and folk-infused style. It’s similar in tone to “I’ll Understand”, but never does the same thing twice. There’s absolutely a dreamy expansiveness to it with more gentle guitars, a steady rhythm, and melodies that got stuck in our heads. Yet again, her voice becomes the anchor, carrying emotions that shift subtly but powerfully throughout the track.

All in all, it’s not just the quality of the songs, it’s the context in which they were written. Ripsime is approaching a new artistic era, with two upcoming records that promise to explore both the raw, acoustic heart of her music and the more electronic, cinematic edges of her sound. These three singles, revived and reimagined, feel like essential listening to really appreciate what’s in the works and on the way.

Across all three, one constant rises above the production, genre shifts, and contrasts, it’s her voice that we’ll always mention! They carry so much of what makes these songs collectively great and we know for the total fact they’ll be paramount to making the future songs great, even though we have no idea what they’re going to sound like!
