Roxy Rawson finds magic & meaning in “I Found a Place in the Woods”
On her latest single, “I Found a Place in the Woods,” the British-born chamber-folk artist Roxy Rawson has given the world a simply breathtaking, otherworldly track that feels undeniably mystical. Produced by acclaimed composer and orchestrator Jherek Bischoff, the single marks another stunning step forward in Rawson’s artistic evolution. She’s created a singular world that we legitimately cannot wait for you to hear.
Rawson has always existed in a realm slightly left of reality, where classical arrangements meet folk intimacy and the surreal curls itself around the deeply emotional. However, this track feels like a true show of her strengths, like a piece that is ethereal yet grounded, whimsical yet weighted with meaning. Inspired by the fairytale The Three Ravens and born from Rawson’s own journey through divorce, the song tracks a path through grief, stillness, and finally renewal.
Her voice, which we found to be quite Joanna Newsom-esque, is nothing short of mesmerizing here. It’s delicate yet it absolutely soars without ever sounding strained. She sings with an emotional clarity that feels almost ancient, as though she’s tapping into folklore rather than merely performing. Each note is placed with care, each phrase delivered with an honesty that hits deep.
The production, courtesy of Bischoff, is exquisite. It feels like stepping into a forest at dusk. That surprising flute flutters, subtle strings add nice textures, and the arrangement gradually expands until the track becomes a lush, swelling tapestry of sound. As the song intensifies, it mirrors the emotional arc at its core.
Really what makes “I Found a Place in the Woods” so extraordinary is its ability to be intimate and grand at the same time. Rawson manages to hold the listener close while painting something cinematic. It’s chamber-folk at its finest, a genre that isn’t widely released, yet needs to be paid way more attention to when the end result is as beautiful as this is.
This single serves as a preview of Rawson’s upcoming 2026 album Bright Star, her full-length collaboration with Bischoff. If this track is any indication, that album is poised to be one of the most enchanting releases of the next year.
