solomxn. defies all expectations on sonically perfect single, "FALLING APART"

On FALLING APART, solomxn. delivers one of his most emotionally clear-eyed releases yet. From the get go, it’s a smooth, shimmering breakup anthem that trades bitterness for honesty, and chaos for clarity. At just 2 minutes and 25 seconds, it’s brief, but a quiet declaration of self-worth wrapped in lush production and silky smooth vocals. It’s the kind of track that lingers long after it ends, not because it’s loud, but because it’s undeniably relatable.

Born in Egypt and now rooted in Regina after years spent in Calgary, Solomon El-kelani has carved out a lane defined by experimentation and boundary-blurring. His sound has become a fusion of his cultural and musical experiences. Not necessarily on this song in full, but you’ll always experience hip-hop’s rhythm, R&B’s intimacy, the tension of Rock, and Afrobeat’s warmth that all find their place in his world. However, FALLING APART feels like a refinement of that palette, a moment where all the influences converge into something sharply focused.

The track is ultimately a letter to the past. solomxn. isn’t torching bridges or settling scores rather he’s acknowledging the exhaustion of one-way love, the quiet ache of showing up for someone who doesn’t (or can’t) reciprocate, and the courage it takes to choose yourself anyway. It’s so mature to be able to realize that if you listen closely.

The production is the star’s equal here with a thick sculpted sound design that cuts through the mix without ever overpowering the vocals. The synth bass line is a standout, slicing through the track with a heaviness that adds so much emotion. Around it, the instrumentation remains sparse and minimalistic. There’s some subtle percussion, well-timed cymbal crushes, and atmospheric pads that float around solomxn.’s performance. For such a short runtime, the track feels fully formed and immersive as ever.

But it’s the vocals that give FALLING APART its soul. Smooth, silky, and poetic, solomxn. delivers the lyrics with a calm sense of acceptance. There aren’t any theatrics or angst, just clarity on the situation. To be honest, this was our introduction to his work, but we were so impressed, we had to go back and check out the rest of his discog.

It’s just his fifth single of the year, but wow, is he on a roll. We urge everyone out there to click those links below to listen in, follow along, and of course to stay tuned for more in the works. Enjoy!
