Spitten Images shares laidback jam "The Game of Hip Hop" featuring Masta Ace
Consider us incredibly impressed, because Spitten Image has just let loose an all new jam titled “The Game of Hip Hop '' that we’ve instantly fallen in love with. Read along for our full review of the track, as well as a background on the artist as well.
Based out of Ottawa, Canada, Spitten Image is an emcee who’s just put forward a collaboration track with Masta Ace titled “The Game of Hip Hop” that has taken the best parts of the 90’s and expertly fused it with a fresh modern take. After receiving the award for 2020’s OMIC Entertainer of the Year, it’s not an overt surprise that this newest track is as amazing as it was based on first listen.
To be honest, Spitten Image has been all over the place this past year in his creative output. Having toured with Rasshan Ahmad and PhillyMoves in the past and being the representative for Canada at the 2020 South African Music Week, we have the sneaking suspicion that only big and bold things are on the way for this talented artist. If “The Game of Hip Hop” is any indication, this is just another stepping stone into another rung of his career.
Coming in just a little bit shy of a three minute run time, our only specific “con” on the track is that we wish it were longer. There were so many positives to point out here, from the beat that’s bound to get stuck in your head, to the effortless flow delivered by both artists. We think it’s quite clear at this point, but it’s a very obvious winner of a song. It’s immediately gone in our summer playlist for subsequent listening.
As mentioned, it’s taken that sort of laid back jam vibe so heavily featured in the 90’s rap game, but also pulled from the modern to cohesively put together a memorable song. While it appears that “The Game of Hip Hop” is just the first track to come from the artist this year, we know for the absolute fact that we’ll be keeping a close eye for everything else that sees a release. The sound is just too good to not dig back in!
