Stay In Nothing craft perfectly nostalgic debut album, "SIN"

On their debut album that has completely blown us away, Stay In Nothing are on the right path with the release of SIN. Read on for our full featured review of the record, in addition to a background on this new project.

With so much noise and high powered talent coming from Stay In Nothing, it was a shock to us to find out that they’re made up of only two members. As an independent duo crafting a nice even blend of Emo and Grunge music, we’ve quickly fallen in love with their debut album, SIN. Truly, it’s filled with a heaping dose of nostalgia and a reminder of the good times. We really can’t wait for everyone out there to give this one a listen at full volume.

After forming during the pandemic, the only logical thing to do was start a band of course! Totally kidding, but also we’re quite thankful because this record has perfectly scratched that itch for us in terms of the genre. It’s been quite some time since we’ve heard a record like this that brought us back to the prime grunge days. While they’ve certainly channeled some sounds of the past, their modern take on the genre as a whole is what drew us in immediately. The opener “Pulp Friction” was enough to keep us glued for the entire 44 minute run time.

What came across so blatantly to us was the immense amount of passion and love that you can audibly hear and feel come through in the vocals and instrumentation. For one, the vocal delivery was a definite highlight as it had that total classic sound about it. On the other hand, the powerful and slamming drums and fills are what kept us guessing throughout the entirety of SIN. We always tend to think that the drums are on the more important instruments, which is a main reason why we fell in love so quickly with the record.

Honestly, SIN could have been released in the mid-90’s and we wouldn’t have second guessed it for a moment. The fact that it’s dropped in 2021 and doesn’t feel out of place in the slightest is a true testament as to just how impressive it really was. As far as favorite tracks go, it’s a little bit difficult to choose as we felt there was a cohesiveness about the record that’s just begging for you to listen to it in full. We suggest starting from the beginning to really get the full messaging from start to finish.

Seriously though, there’s zero flaws on this record, and we cannot wait to hear a follow up in the hopefully near future. In the meantime though, get into this record and follow along with Stay In Nothing by clicking the links below. Enjoy!
